Educational Testing
Uncovering the child's strengths
We provide formal assessments to meet the requirements of schools. Our psychometric testing tools include:
- Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-5th Edition (WISC-V)
- Wechsler Individual Achievement Test-3rd Edition (WIAT-III)
- Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-4th Edition (WAIS-IV)
In addition to these formal testing tools, we include careful observations in both formal and informal settings, such as, school and home environments to provide a complete picture of the child.
Our in-house Hils Discovery Screening endeavours to uncover the child’s strengths and also assesses his challenges. The findings are used to provide appropriate individualised programs that place emphasis on our pillars of learning.
Listening to the parent’s concerns furthers our understanding of the child and together we discuss the most appropriate way forward. We provide an explanation of our approach and our methods and discuss the appropriate number and length of sessions and where the emphasis of our work will be.
Evaluation is an ongoing process. While the child is registered at Hils it is expected that parents will meet with the child’s facilitator once a month. These meetings provide an opportunity for the parents to share their input. In addition, there are many informal opportunities to speak briefly to the child’s facilitator to obtain frequent updates on the child's progress.
